A TALK ON FOSSILS

Mr Fauchon and the pupils looking at fossils

On 04/04/2024, Mr Fauchon, an 81-year-old fossil collector, visited the CE2/CM1/CM2 class.

First he talked about the fossils that can be found in the Bitscherland, then about those found elsewhere. He talked a lot and made us laugh. We were all very impressed by such a passionate man. It was really great! Elouan, Ilyes, Louis, Loona, Ruben (the CM2 pupils).

After break, the children moved on to hands-on work: digging in buckets of sand to find fossils, making sparks with a flint and measuring a trilobite (a small sea creature) and a neck vertebra of a woolly rhinoceros. At the end he even passed round a real dinosaur egg. Oh yes, and also: one pupil asked if she could have a fossil and he said yes. In the end the whole class went home with one of these precious objects. Thank you, Mr Fauchon!
