AFPA CONSULTATION

The consultation of the owners of land that may be included in the Falkensteinerbach Landowners’ Grazing Association (AFPA), in the municipalities of Bitche, Philippsbourg and Eguelshardt, produced the following results:
- 289 owners were consulted on the basis of the land register, for 538 plots concerned by the project, covering 123.61 ha;
- 2 owners sent a letter without the form, against joining, representing 1 ha 50 a 08 ca;
- 1 owner sent a letter without the form that did not make clear whether they wished to join, representing 24 a 05 ca;
- 135 owners returned their form to join or not join:
- 12 votes were not counted because co-owners disagreed, covering 56 a 56 ca;
- 82 owners declared themselves in favour of joining the AFPA, covering 54 ha 86 a 47 ca;
- 42 owners declared themselves against joining the AFPA, covering 22 ha 85 a 30 ca;
- 170 owners, duly informed of the consequences of abstaining, did not state their opposition in writing; they are therefore deemed to be in favour of joining the AFPA, covering 43 ha 58 a 66 ca.
As the owners of plot 81, section 1, were not consulted within the legal time limit (because of a name mix-up), this land is withdrawn from the project.
The area whose owners are deemed to be in favour is 66 ha 43 a 96 ca. The majority conditions for joining are therefore met, and the procedure can go ahead.
Please note that the municipalities could buy plots from owners who wish to sell and come forward.
The mayor.

TRANSPORTING A LOG AFTER THE WAR

The photo above shows a log being transported after the 1939-1945 war. In it we see Camille Letzelter sitting on the horse, Jean-Pierre Mischler standing on the shaft between the horses and the log, Jean-Pierre Letzelter sitting on the log and, at the back, a German prisoner of war employed on the timber transport sites. The beech log, which came from Sturzelthal, measured five and a half cubic metres.
